Multiple Organisations Sharing a Single Active Directory Domain
An alliance of local government organisations working in partnership needed to integrate 10,000 user identities stored in three incompatible HRM systems with a single AD domain.
Licensing cost for a single HRM system were prohibitive, as was the cost of the HRM vendors’ AD interface. Furthermore, each organisation used AD attributes differently, meaning a single approach was inappropriate. The organisations faced significant financial constraint and time pressure to being working in alliance.

Public Library Service integrating borrower identities with public PCs
The SirsiDynix Symphony Library Management System (LMS) was selected by a County Library Service despite it's lack of a native Active Directory interface. This was a problem because borrowers defined in the LMS could no longer use publicly accessible Library PCs.
We provided an interface that synchronises identities in the LMS with the Active Directory that supports the public library PCs.
As a consequence, new borrowers have accounts automatically created in AD enabling them to use public computer and related services almost immediately. Changes to borrower details are also kept up to date in AD.
The interface took three weeks to build and helped the service deliver on a service obligation where no other technical solution was available.
This interface has run successfully for over three years, serving an AD of nearly 500,000 users with a daily churn of over one thousand accounts.
